Carter W. Page sued James Comey and others in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, No. 20-cv-3460. Joe Pientka is a named defendant. That caption is a public record. Being named is not a finding he committed a crime.

His motion to dismiss, on the public PACER/RECAP file, describes his role as a supervisory special agent and says he reviewed the Woods file for the initial FISA application targeting Page. That is his lawyers’ description of his job on that application. It is not a signed FISA affidavit in this file. The second amended complaint excerpt on the same docket identifies him as an SSA at the Washington Field Office. Those PDFs are the citations. This site did not invent a signature block.

Do not upgrade that sentence to “he swore the FISA.” The Page complaint so alleges. Allegations stay labeled. The Horowitz report later assigned Woods completeness and accuracy-check duties to unnamed “SSA 1” and found factual assertions in the first Page application that were inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported. Horowitz is an inspector-general finding about a process. It is not a criminal verdict against a named agent. Fox News (December 2019) is the outlet that printed the SSA 1 = Pientka identification as reporting.
